the three musketeers

messieurs athos, porthos and aramis were the three musketeers; and monsieur d’artagnan was the gascon who ends up being their lieutenant general.  almost all of their adventures started off with a rudimentary insult, and ended on sword fights.  there wasn’t much twist in story though; but the anticipation kept on building on the villainess, mme’ milady clarik who was in the end killed by our brave men.  this was a bit difficult read for me because alexander dumas had written this novel in half-medieval english.

the book was written in 1850s and needless to say, it had no profanity in it even though the story revolved around 4 young men and their mistresses who lived in paris.  and not a single filthy word was used! and the word gay was used for happy!! eewwwl!! how very gay!! so anyways, i’ll safely recommend this book to class 6 readers.

and besides, the swash buckling narratives in this book reminds me of monkey island - mi1, mi2, mi3 and mi4. my sweeet governess elaine marley… sigh…
